Intelimer Polymers® are synthesized from long side-chain acrylic monomers that are derived primarily from natural renewable materials such as canola (rapeseed), coconut, and palm oils.
These materials are highly purified and designed to be manufactured economically through known synthetic processes. We polymerize these acrylic-monomer starting materials into many different side-chain crystalline polymers whose properties vary depending upon monomer composition and the synthesis process. Intelimer Polymers can be designed to incorporate up to 80% renewable materials and can be supplied in biocompatible and bioerodible forms. We synthesize the Intelimer Polymers through a variety of means including solution, emulsion and bulk polymerization (solvent free).
Sample applications: Renewable materials are incorporated in all Landec Intelimer polymers
