Intelimer Polymers® simplify processing. Above their melting point, the polymers exhibit low viscosity fluid properties allowing them to be combined with other ingredients without requiring solvents and eliminating the need for energy-intensive high temperature mixing methods such as melt extrusion. Upon cooling the mixture below the melting point, crystallization occurs rapidly and the formulation assumes a solid form. Since the melting point can be adjusted over a wide temperature range, thermosensitive materials such as proteins or other sensitive materials can be formulated without significant loss of biological activity. The melting point itself is determined during the synthesis of the polymer and can be set to within 1°C over a wide range of temperatures within the range of 0-105 °C.
